E4 HD and the forthcoming HD version of Film4 are to be launched on Virgin Media.

E4 HD, which launched late last year on Sky Digitial, will launch on the platform in April and the high definition version of Film4 will appear when that channel launches in the summer.

Cindy Rose, Virgin Media's director of entertainment, said: "Channel 4 has a great track record in delivering innovative and compelling content and we're delighted to bring some of their very best films and most popular programmes to our customers in stunning HD. As more and more households become HD-ready, we're lining up content that makes the most of high definition and are making HD available to all our of customers for no extra fee."

The addition of these channels comes after Virgin Media announced the forthcoming launch of the high definition versions of Eurosport and Discovery. Channel 4 HD has been available on Virgin Media since last summer.
