ESPN has acquired the rights to next weekend's World Indoor Athletics Championships.
ESPN EMEA vice president Jeroen Oerlemans said: "As Athletics fans and British sports fans begin to look towards the 2012 Olympics in London, we hope they share our excitement in the addition of live coverage of the World Indoor Championships. It is great sporting competition and is in line with our approach to provide a diverse line-up of top sports events." The likelihood for the opening day's action not being shown live is because it would clash with the European Winter X Games, which take place between Wednesday and Friday of next week, whose rights ESPN bought yesterday.
